Conserving energy doesn’t have to mean going back to the stone age of technology. Mobile phone manufacturers are now making eco-friendly phones that still offer all the same advanced technological features. A few of the phones that have recently been deemed green include the Samsung Reclaim, the Nokia X6, and the Puma Phone. The Reclaim is made from bioplastics extracted from corn. The phone is advertised to be 80 percent recyclable, its packaging material is 100 percent recyclable, and there is no printed manual. Mandatory package inserts use soy-based ink and the charger is Energy Star approved. The Nokia X6 appears to have the most advanced features of the green phones. It has a full touch screen with a host of applications. Like the Reclaim, it is 80 percent recyclable, comes in recyclable packaging, and is PVC free. The X6 also has a power-save mode and ambient-light sensor. The Puma Phone takes eco-friendly one step further by utilizing solar energy. For every hour left in the sun, the phone can provide up to 90 minutes of usage.Full story at Clean Techies.
